Constant Curiosity
One of the glorious luxuries about sales is the ability to meet and learn about all sorts of different industries. It's a profession that demands intellect and curiosity and rewards those that take a little extra time to learn more about the customer. Curiosity prompts deeper questioning and reflects a genuine character that both drive a stronger relationship with customers and thus result in sales.
That stronger relationship changes you from sales rep to consultant. From person trying to get a deal done to advocate looking out for the best interests of the client. When you look out for the best interests of your clients and your own company you are playing matchmaker between what the customer needs and the awesome solutions you can provide. If ever there was a time to throw down a booyah it'd be now.
The best sales professionals I've seen are deeply entrenched in their clients business and play matchmaker all day long. Keep that curiosity strong. As a rep you've got firsthand rights to get down and dirty and scratch those itches that keep your curiosity neurons firing. Get it?
