Solitude

"Solitude well practiced will break the power of busyness, haste, isolation and loneliness. You will see that the world is not on your shoulders after all. You will find yourself, and God will find you in new ways."      -Dallas Willard
So friends and sales enthusiasts we're getting on a philosophical bend here, but you are an open-minded and ever-seeking bunch anyway so check it out. Sales, especially when first starting out and building a pipeline, is friggin' lonely. Perhaps it's the start of a new year with nothing carried over from last year or you earned a new position with nothing to stake your claim in. You know what I'm talking about.

Perhaps you are a super star performer and busier than all get out. You've got to pause and give yourself an opportunity to chill or you'll burn out. Well this quote by American philosopher Dallas Willard suggests a simple solution. Take some time out for solitude. I recommend taking five to ten minutes to start in meditative peace and let the thoughts enter and leave your head. Just Google what to do or get an app to guide you if need be, but try it.

Shut your monkey brain down and give yourself a break for a bit. There are so many advocates for resting our brain that we'd be crazy not to try it. I know I'm not as effective a seller when I feel the full weight of the world on my shoulders so I'm giving Mr. Willard's advice a try. I'm always down for self improvement and finding myself. And who doesn't want God finding them anyway?

STOKED!
